Nicholas and I took a quick drive around east of our house last weekend when we had a short stretch of sunny weather. Here are some pictures that we took:

Left is a barn near the town of Oso with Three Fingers Mountain behind.

Below is a view east along Highway 530 west of Darrington. The big white volcano is Glacier Peak.

Above is Whitehorse Mountain above Darrington.

Above is a 180º panorama of Whitehorse Mountain. Whitehorse sports the lowest altitude glacier in the lower 48 states.

Below is Nicholas on the road above the town of Oso. Whitehorse and Three Fingers are behind him. Below right is a view west toward Arlington, the Puget Sound (covered in fog) and the Olympic Mountains.

Below left is the Stillaguamish valley.

Below right is 'Three O'Clock Rock' in south of Darrington.

Does anybody climb around Darrington anymore? Or has everyone taken up 'sport climbing' the bolt ladders at Index and Smith Rock?

At bottom is the awesome granite dome of 'Blueberry hill' at Darrington. The infamous 'Witch Doctor Wall' is on the backside. This image does not show the scale of this multi-pitch climb.
